The Short Seaplane, Admiralty Type 74 was an early seaplane that improved upon the Short S.41. When the war broke out, several were used for coastal patrol, and they remained in that role for several months. Three participated in the raid on the Heligoland Bight in December 1914. [2] Two were assigned to the Ark Royal and they also served out of Dundee and Gibraltar.[1]
