The Pfalz A.II was a licensed copy of the Morane-Saulnier Type L with an 100hp Oberursel rotary engine. Pfalz A.I's and A.IIs also served on the Eastern Front and perhaps in Mesopotamia. Once an interrupter gear became available, some A.IIs were refitted with a gun and flown as the Pfalz E.III.[4] When better reconnaissance and bombing machines were developed, the A.I and A.II aircraft were relegated to training duties.[1]
