Twenty-four Lohner C.I (Series 18 or Type Jc) aircraft were contracted in March 1916, but they were found to be greatly lacking compared the the contemporary Brandenburg C.I and were relegated quickly to training units.
Seventeen further were contracted as Series 18.5, but they were intended as trainers from the beginning.[1]
Angelucci indicates that the C.I remained in frontline service until the end of 1916.[5]
