The lightweight Heiro 85hp engine was used in the Lohner B.II, twenty-five of which were built as the Series 12 or Type C. Load testing on early aircraft showed weak wings and wing fittings, and retrofits delayed the deployment of all but six B.IIs at the war's start. Eventually more and more were made combat-ready and they served with five Fliks, and most were withdrawn as soon as more modern aircraft were available. The last was not retired from active service until the late date of June 1917. 
Seven were rebuilt by Fischamend as trainers and forty-six were newly constructed as 'Lohner B.II(Fd) Series 74.
