Also known as the Type LDD, the Brandenburg B.I was ordered in large numbers by Austria-Hungary. One hundred and two B.I's were ordered as Series 05.1. While the plane was intended for training, it served with ten Fliks on the Russian Front in summer 1915 and a few also served in Italy. It was a reliable machine without major faults. [1]
Fischamend converted or overhauled several 0.51 B.I biplanes to dual-control trainers as Brandenburg B.I(Fd) Series 06.5. A total of 355 were built or rebuilt by Fischamend before the war ended. [3]
The B.I was intended as a trainer and Fischamend built over 355 of them in eleven series. [2]
