L.V.G. was contracted to build seventy Gotha G.IX/GL.IX bombers in February 1918. It is believed that the contract was completed but it is not known whether they saw service. [1]

The GL.IX was meant as a day bomber and resembled the GL.VII with increased size, carrying 5×50 kg (110 lb) bombs under the fuselage. A French inspection report listed 96 of them stored at the LVG factory in December 1918, which perhaps confuses some GL.VIIs for GL.IXs, and makes it likely that the GL.IX did not see much -- if any -- combat use.[3]
