Société Anonyme des Établissments Borel built several pre-war designs, but with the coming of the war the factories were initially shuttered. As skilled builders were released from the army, the factories reopened in 1915 and built licensed copies of Caudron, Nieuport, and S.P.A.D. designs.[1]
