The Avro 504C was a long-range, single seat version of the Avro 504B where a second fuel tank was mounted in place of the observer, giving the plane an eight hour duration. It was used by the RNAS, and anti-Zeppelin versions had a Lewis mounted in a central wing window firing upward at a 45° angle. [4]
