The Aviatik C.II improved on the Aviatik C.I by mounting the 200hp Benz Bz.IV engine, but it unfortunately retained the outdated design of placing the observer in the front seat, where his field of fire was very limited. The C.II was used primarily on the less-demanding Eastern Front.[2]
