Lightening the A.E.G. C.I without compromising its strength turned out to be more difficult than expected, and the AEG C.II was not delivered until April 1916. Of the six delivered, only one spent a short time at the front; the rest served training duties. The C.II also became an platform for AEG to experiment with different gun mounts, radiators, and wing profiles.[1]
