Though first ordered in May 1915, deliveries were slow, and the last Gotha LD.7 was not delivered until November. Most of the planes were trainers, but five were sent to Turkey in the autumn, re-designated the Gotha B.I. "LD" stands for "Land Doppeldecker" (Land Biplane).
